SWCNTs have a very high length-to-diameter ratio, which can exceed 1,000,000:1. This high aspect ratio contributes to their unique mechanical and electrical properties, making them excellent reinforcing agents in composites and efficient conductive pathways in electronic materials. SWCNTs are among the strongest materials known, with a tensile strength estimated to be over 100 times greater than that of steel, while being significantly lighter. This makes them ideal for creating stronger, lighter materials for aerospace, automotive, and construction applications.Depending on their chirality (the geometric arrangement of the carbon atoms), SWCNTs can exhibit either metallic or semiconducting behavior. Metallic SWCNTs are highly conductive, making them useful in electronics and as fillers in conductive composites. Semiconducting SWCNTs are explored for use in transistors, sensors, and other semiconductor devices.SWCNTs have an extremely high thermal conductivity along their length, comparable to that of diamond. This property is beneficial for thermal management applications, including heat sinks, thermal interface materials, and thermally conductive polymers.
